In the VoiceOver settings, did you only set up Rotor voices and not set up a voice under Default Dialect?
Normally, if you have a default voice, in the language rotor it will say "default language" before that voice. I'm also using the female British voice, but just tried a different, no difference. At either rate, I have no such thing as default, and when I read something that's in English, according to the note takers, voice over will disagree.
