Hi Jed, Do a Reset all Network settings in Settings > General > Reset (at the very bottom of General settings). Keep in mind that you will have to reconnect to your WiFi including entering the password, but this may help with connection issues. For good measure I would also reboot the router as well as your ADSL or cable modem (if they are separate from your router) before you reconnect to your WiFi. If you have a modem separate from the router, turn off both or even better unplug both, then wait about at least 30 seconds. Now plug your modem back in, wait at least a minute. Now plug your router back in and give it a good 3 minutes (many routers take that long to boot up completely). Now reconnect to your WiFi and try again.
Daniel's advice to Upgrade via iTunes of course is always a good option and you get much more feedback during the upgrade process. Depending on the phone you have, when the update does work it may take up to 25 minutes or half an hour for the phone to reboot and for Voiceover to come back (this would be if you have a 4S). If you have a 5 or 5C it should be somewhat faster, a 5S should be no more than 12 or 15 minutes and the 6 or 6 Plus about the same. I also highly recommend that you close all apps from the app switcher and doing a Reset Network Settings may cause less issues after the upgrade. Yes, I know somebody will probably point out that it is not a recommended step by Apple and they never do it and never have problems, but I can think of at least 3 or 4 people on the list who posted about various problems and when they did a Reset Network Settings after the update these problems went away. One other comment, if you do Reset Network Settings and if you called your phone anything other than "iPhone" you have to go to Settings > General > About and rename your phone to whatever you want, e.g. "Jed's iPhone". I've been trying to update to the latest update. I'm getting an error, that's saying, update failed varification cause you are no longer connected to the internet. I'm right next to my router, and have a perfect wifi signal. I've tried it both at work and at home, same results.
