It can't hurt, but I also don't want to be an "app switcher neat freak" and close every app each time it is opened. I usually keep my app switcher with between 10 and 14 apps running at any one time, and often more like 10 to 12. IMO, too much above that and you are slowing down your device. Currently running an iPhone 6S with iOS 9.0.2. I bring this up since I know people who, each time they get an email in Gmail, they will delete it and then go and empty their trash. This is overkill in my opinion. The iPhone is smart enough to manage these things in the background. I often find apps in the switcher which will not say active, menaing iOS has closed them to better use resources.
