Hi. Thanks so much, and I found another way to do it, I found a
forward option, so I just sent the picture to him that way. Yay!!
Oh and saved it too in case I ever need it again.

These things are not easy, at times.
The easiest solution to your problem is to do the following:
1.
Since you have attempted to send the message, containing a photo, albeit
unsuccessfully, you can now save the attached image, as though you had received
it from someone else. Therefore, simply single-finger, double-tap the image in
your failed message and, in the resulting dialog box, save the image back to
your phone's Camera Roll.
2.
Now, simply begin a new text message, with the correct telephone number of
course, and reattach the photo.

I forgot to put the person's area code in. Now I need to resend the message
because it give me error messages otherwise, I put him in my contacts but that
doesnt' correct the number in the original text message. I can't see where to
go to edit that number.
