Does anyone remember when Netflix switched up a perfectly accesible
site to a fancy visual display with add buttons that didn't work? Even
people at customer service who took my calls said they came to work one day
and the whole site was different and they also had trouble with it. There
was a law suit but I never got credited for the many months the site was
unusable. This was sometime within the last 6 or so years. That was the end
of my subscription to Netflix.
Now a podcast I like a lot switched venues and is now a part of
Howl. Howl is a nightmare and pretty much unusable. When I wrote them about
it, they were genuinely sorry and gave me an extra 3 months free and also
that "they had never thought about that" meaning that anyone would be using
their site on an i phone with voice over. How can we raise the awareness of
such developers about this sort of thing?

Mary and others,
I don't think you are missing any gestures. The app just doesn't work well
with VoiceOver.
Like you said, if you know what to search for you can use it quite well. If
you want to browse to see what is available, forget it.
I stopped writing them about it because it hasn't made a difference in a
couple of years.

Richard

I think it is really helpful to know what somebody thinks his "usable". You
can search for and play whatever it is you search for. I have been totally
unable to navigate in categories or by categories or be able to see that I
have for sure seen all the things in a given category. I was just messing
with the app today and found myself extremely frustrated. It is far easier
to do on Apple TV. If somebody can tell me how to find category ask and make
sure I have seen everything in that category before moving to category why,
I would love to know how to do it. There was a golden time in the past when
this was doable on my iPad mini. But an upgrade happened and the capability
went away. Or I'm just missing some magic gesture that is eluding me.

Before I sign up with them, I was wondering what people on this list thought
of it and if there might be any pointers or tips or whatever regarding it.
