Hello Steve, Although you can adjust this setting from deep within the iOS native Twitter app, I think it more convenient to adjust it from the Twitter website.
Login to your account at Twitter.com, and go to the Settings area. In there, you will locate a section that adjust text messaging alerts. You will probably want to turn them off.
