Would the ear pods that came with the I phone also work like a blue tooth headset when pressing the button on the ear buds?

Matthew, I find the easiest way is to use a blue tooth. On every headset I have, I can just press the button, and go back and fourth from call to call. Since I'm getting my personal iPhone, how will I deal with call waiting when the phone is at my ear? Must I lower the handset to switch to speaker so the controls are visible? Then do I have to flick through, or can I simply two finger double tap to switch calls, and again to switch back? Primarily I will be conversing on a bluetooth headset, so I may just be able to click a button on that headset to accomplish this, but I thought I'd ask now, before the situation comes up. I know that if the phone is at your ear and you click the power button the phone will hang up, but will this then activate the other call and back again?
