I would close alittle apps from the app switcher and then power down the phone. 
To do this, hold the sleep/wake button down until the alert with the power off 
button pops up. Press the power off button. Turn it on again after about a 
minute. You probably don't need to wait this long, but it can't hurt anything. 
Turn on the phone by holding down the sleep/wake button for about five seconds. 
If that fails to do anything, I would next hold down the sleep/wake button and 
home button together for about 10 seconds and wait for the phone to resttart. 
This won't touch any of your settings.
