In safari, I can’t even get to the pickes to get them to work. I think this is what he means.

What I try to do is each time I move the picker up or down and find what I want I then try to move directly to the done button on the right side of the screen just above the top of the keyboard if up but in the general same area if keyboard not there. If you touch fast enough it will leave the picker where it was placed, but sometimes you will need to repeat 3 or 4 times before it sticks. Patience is important because pickers can be flaky.
