I agree getting something accessible off the shelf and not paying any
more than your sighted counterparts is nice, but I'm not sure you end up
saving money though in the long run. I used Talks on Nokia phones for
almost ten years, and I think getting a new iPhone every other year
would have ended up costing me more than I ended up spending on my Nokia
phones plus my Talks upgrades. Ditto for Windows and JAWS and PC's when
compared to Macs. I know some will disagree with my math and claim that
I was getting inferior quality with my non-Apple products, but I'm happy
with my research and my decisions. On the PC side now, I get the best of
both worlds. I pay PC prices and run Ubuntu which is accessible out of
the box with Orca, and it's all free!

Hi,
I won't switch any time soon, Fleksy or no. Accessibility right out of
the box is what I wanted and what I got when I bought my iPhone. I was
a Talks user before and I just didn't want to have to deal with paying
for its upgrades, or switching to MobileSpeak and paying for its
upgrades. On the computer side, odds are pretty good that my next
system will be a Mac. the prospect of using Voiceover right out of the
box is very compelling and I won't pay a dime more than any other Mac user.

Hi all. I wouldn't give up my i phone either. My main reason for
going with apple's products is that they are accessible out of the
box. I know that with some phone carriers if you get an android the
accessibility is free like Sprint and some other carriers. If the
carrier isn't one of them then you have to pay 99 or 100 dollars for
the accessibility. That made my decision as to which platform I was
going with.
