First, a double-tap would take you to an end, might have to do it more than once if it takes you to the wrong end; but it does tell you. So, the double-tap will take you to the start of the message, which is the start of the first line I hope.
Then, I can flick left to previous screen item, flick right back to the text field, and it reads it all. Or, I'd crank round the rotor to Lines, then flick down and read in bigger bites, but still retain some navigational control if I need to check a detail as I pass.
