You didn't specify if you want to record quick, short notes, or more
lengthy recordings. For short notes I recently started using Say&Go.
By default it starts recording as soonb as the app is opened. One can
set the default record time before it automatically shuts off. It
comes with 7 seconds initially set but I think it can go up to 30
seconds or so. During the record time one can tap a button that
extends the recording to a minute. It's easy to send the M4A file to
Drop Box, email it, etc.
So, for this particular usage it is very good. And, it is quite
VoiceOver friendly.
