Just keep in mind that most likely the TV will have to be on if you want an audio out from the TV to your receiver to work. Maybe some of the new TV’s have some sort of pass-through mode where this is not the case, but on my Sony which admittedly is 6 or 7 years old nothing will come out of an output unless the TV is on. I believe I can get around the lack of a fiberoptic port by piping the audio from our digital tv into our receiver.
