Isn't life just a bit too short? I don't expect a government agency to want to recover data from my phone. However having said that I recently heard a podcast which said that the nsa and the like can recover dataif they want to even if your phone is switched off. Personally, I don't have the time or the patience to worry about that.

Sieghard,

One reason people use these cleaning apps is to remove the data from
the iPhone that could be recovered by a government agency or through a
lawsuit. If the person does not back everything up to iCloud, then
the only repository for the iPhone's data would be the device itself
or a person's computer, both of which could have high level
uncrackable encryption. As with Windows, once data or an app is
deleted from an iPhone, it could still be recovered. An appp i use to
erase deleted data is called Kruptos. It is fully accessible and works
well to delete data, free up a little space, and encrypt the unused
space on the iPhone. Between Kruptos and the security measures Apple
has put in place, one has to decide now whether to hand out a password
to the corporate security state or go to jail because folks cannot get
into your phone if you do not want them to.

Hi Fazil,

I believe there are apps like that out there, but it wouldn’t worry about
it. iOS manages things very well and Apple’s “sandbox” approach means apps
can be removed without leaving much of a trace if any. I don’t think iOS
works like Windows where you have the registry and every time you install
something it adds stuff to the registry and uninstalling an application does
not always remove all things. This is why in iOS you don’t have to
“uninstall” apps, you just delete them.

Subject: Cleaning App?

Hi, list.

Is there a cleaning app available?

We install and uninstall a lot of apps in our I-devices, this process must
be leaving some digital debris or left-over behind. Is there an app to clean
out this mass?

Thanks!
