Chip, The short answer is by double tapping on the hide button. When you have the keypad up in the phone app, and have "ialed a number, in the lower right, there is a hide button to hide the keypad. Once it is hidden, you will find options like mute, speaker, add call, etc. If you have set up a number for getting into autamated systems, you will find the dial x number in the lower left area.
