FAQ:

*what is a C wire?

The C wire originates from your heating/cooling system and provides 24 volt
power to your Lyric.

The C wire originates from your heating/cooling system and provides 24 volt
power to your Lyric. "C" stands for common and there is no universal color
used to designate this type of wire. If you do not have a C wire, your Lyric
will instead draw power from your heating and cooling systems to power its
battery.

* I am having difficulty removing my old thermostat?

Often, the thermostat will separate from the wallplate with moderate
pressure. Other times, there might be small screws holding the device in
place. If you are unable to pull it off, please refer to your thermostat
manufacturer's website or manual for removal instructions. NOTE: Do not
place your old thermostat in the trash if it contains mercury in a sealed
tube. Contact the Thermostat Recycling Corporation at
http://www.thermostat-recycle.org/ or 1-800-238-8192 for information on how
and where to properly and safely dispose of your old thermostat.

* What is the range or distance of the Wi-Fi signal in my thermostat?

The range or distance of the Wi-Fi signal is determined by your router.
Check your router's manual for additional information. It is possible that
your thermostat is unable to find or maintain reliable connectivity to your
Wi-Fi network because of a poor signal from the router. For example, most
homes have “dead spots” where Wi-Fi signals are unreliable. Since the Lyric
thermostat is fixed to the wall, this problem can be corrected by moving
your router to a better location or by setting up a repeater - a device that
will pick up and rebroadcast the wireless signal from your router to your
thermostat. You can either purchase and install a Wi-Fi repeater, or
configure an additional router to serve as a repeater. Most standard routers
can be configured as a repeater.

* I cannot connect to my guest network. What do I need to do?

Some wireless routers have advanced features like guest networks. It is
recommended that you connect your thermostat to your home network. If you
must connect to your guest network, then you will need to contact the router
manufacture to assist in unblocking port 443 in the guest network firewall.

* Are the MAC ID and MAC CRC case sensitive?

No, the MAC ID and MAC CRC are not case sensitive. Upper and lower case
characters will work.

* What tools or materials are necessary for the installation of my new
thermostat?

In most cases, the only tools and materials required are a small flat edge
screwdriver, #2 phillips screwdriver, your thermostat ID card (located in
the box), and your home Wi-Fi Network password.

* How do I know if my old thermostat contains mercury?

The thermostat will have a glass tube with a silver liquid inside of the
tube. Mercury is typically found in older mechanical thermostats like the
Honeywell Round T87 and rectangular T8090.
NOTE: Do not place your old thermostat in the trash if it contains mercury
in a sealed tube. Contact the Thermostat Recycling Corporation at
http://www.thermostat-recycle.org/ or 1-800-238-8192 for information on how
and where to properly and safely dispose of your old thermostat.

* Do I need a C wire to install my new thermostat?

Yes - the C wire is necessary because it provides power to your new
thermostat.

* My heating and cooling system has a terminal labeled "COM". What is a COM
terminal and what do I do with it?

A COM terminal is often used as another name for the C terminal and issued
to provide power to your thermostat. COM can also refer to a communication
circuit and will not provide power to the thermostat. If you have both a C
and COM terminal on your heating and cooling system the thermostat should be
wired to the C terminal. Please refer to the Quick Start Guide for more
information.

* An extra unused wire in the wall can be used as the C wire for your new
thermostat. The extra wire

* What is My Total Connect Comfort?

My Total Connect Comfort is a web portal for remote access to Honeywell
Wi-Fi thermostats.

*Can I have multiple locations registered under my account?

Yes, your my Total Connect Comfort account allows you to have multiple
locations registered under one account.
