Hi, sorry if this question sounds a bit daft, but how do i go about,
removing widgits from the today view?

Correct, if you use Widgets like Wayne described, they do have to load and
gather the information first.

I think it takes afew seconds for all of your widgets to update, since I
experience a short delay as well. In my case, I've got sports scores,
calendar events and weather from Dark Sky. I can't just swipe through the
info immediately when I bring up the Today view. If the delay is more than 5
to 10 seconds, then you might consider removing some widgets from the Today
view. For what it's worth, using an iPhone 6S with iOS 9.2.
