Once you have created a passcode, you have to use it to unlock it.
Once you have unlocked it, though, you can go into settings, Touch ID and
Passcode and disable it.
You have to enter it again in there to confirm it is you disabling it, but once
you have disabled it, anyone can unlock it. So, if it gets lost or stolen,
everything is open to whomever finds it except your Apple account that requires
your password.

Subject: Unlocking an iPod without a passcode

Hello,
I have just help a friend set up her iPod. She is new at the typing, and is
having difficulty entering her passcode. Is there a way to disable this so that
she can just unlock the touch? Thanks.
Amy
