Hello Mária,
Quite a few of the important points have been mentioned. However, I didn’t see a few things: First, somebody said the iPad has VoiceOver out of the box, so does the iPod Touch. Second, consider size. If your friend wants a highly portable device she should buy an iPod Touch as it’s not so easy to stick an iPad in your pocket and walk off. Lastly, don’t forget that we are only just over 2 weeks away from the iPhone 2012 announcement and 3 weeks away from the release of iOS 6. Most people who are in the business of rumours so to speak think that at best Apple will announce a new iPod Nano on /September 12 as it is rumoured that the new Nano will be sort of a companion device for the iPhone, you wear it on your wrist like a watch, it’s connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth and as you have your iPhone in your pocket, you can see who is calling, read a text message or email, check the time and so on. There was a Kickstarter project a while back which was called “Pebble” and which basically was a companion watch for the iPhone which displayed similar information and it was unbelievable popular and successful although I am sure Apple would have been working on this for some time. In any case, it is highly likely that the iPod Touches will get a significant face lift this year and the rumours say that there will most likely be a mid October Apple event for this. There is also a very good chance that a new smaller iPad which some think will be called iPad Mini with a slightly less than 8 inch screen will be released. As this will be designed to compete with Samsung and Amazon tablets which retail in the $200 to $300 price range, $249 or $299 or maybe $349 will most likely be the price point for that. Apple can probably get away with making it a bit more expensive than the competition and people would still buy it if it was $50 more because it’s Apple. Some rumours say that instead of putting it in the iPad family Apple will call this an iPod Touch so that there will be 3 sizes of iPod Touch, the Nano, the normal size like the third or fourth generation that is available now and then the new 7.8 inch or so one. I wouldn’t be surprised if the iPod Touches would get an improved processor and maybe a better camera. In short, I think this is about the worst time for your friend to buy an iPod Touch or, for that matter, for anybody to buy an iPhone as well. If she decides a new iPad is what she wants then it’s no problem, but I would certainly wait 2 months and see what Apple has up its sleeve although the new devices may not be available right away in your country, it probably won’t be too long, either.
