Hello Scott, and thank you Matti for forwarding this question. Please feel free to post this back to mailing list, if you wish to do that.
I'm Ilkka Pirttimaa, developer of BlindSquare. BSq has very nice support for braille displays, develop together with deaf-blind people. There is specific mode under Tools called "Braille Display". It has table that shows speech history, updating braille display when ever BSq outputs something. You can browse this history. History is also updated, so if there was mention about distance and direction, history will change if you move to other location. There is also command line interface, that allows you to use braille display as a input method. You can listen to more about this from this podcast: https://audioboom.com/boos/2273669-keyboard-notetaker-and-braille-display-support-in-blindsquare-2-2 More detailed example of command line interface: https://audioboom.com/boos/3641550-using-blindsquare-with-the-rivo-keyboard Best, Ilkka ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Scott Dollar <[email protected]> Date: Thu, 4 Feb 2016 16:15:21 -0600 Subject: Re: gps To: [email protected] Hi, I have already asked a long time ago about the Blind Square but it has been told that it is not available for the braille display yet. My suggestion is to double check to make sure about it first. Hope this help you. When it is set to output to a display, any messages which would have been spoken will appear on the display. I don't recall how to do this but perhaps someone else knows.
