It's worth checking out the deals for a particular airline, but sometimes you get a better deal with Expedia or another travel agency. When I booked the flights to the Philippines for my wife and myself, for example, I received an offer from Expedia after I had completed the booking telling me that I was now allegeable for a 30% hotel discount in connection with my flights and of course it's nice to use an app like Expedia if you book multiple products because all of it is presented in a comprehensive itinerary, you get notifications have access to your confirmations, hotel addresses and so on. Lastly, you can save information for people you travel with as well as your credit card information so whenever you do book something it makes it really easy and I often find these apps easier to use than the full websites on the computer which often has all sorts of clutter on it. There is not a right or wrong way, whatever way works for you is the best way for you, but of course a final advantage of Expedia or similar services is that you have access to all airlines, all hotels and all rental car companies and especially when I book a flight it's nice to see the offers from various airlines all listed nicely with price, travel time, stop overs etc.
