Hi Terri,
Yes, you did spell it correctly, thanks. As for space, 16 Gb definitely will bring some limitations especially since the iOS installation itself takes up about 4 or so Gb so you probably have about 12 Gb free space. Your apps won’t take up a lot of space especially if you don’t have 300 of them on your phone as some do. Pictures are not too bad, a picture taken with the 5S is probably only 3 to 4 Mb, so you could have 300 or 400 pictures on your phone and probably only use 1 Gb of space. Music takes up a bit more depending on the quality, I have a library of about 4,000 songs ripped at 256 kbps and it is around 25 Gb I think so you could easily fill up your phone with a couple of thousand songs at that quality. But since I now have an Apple Music subscription, I don’t even have any music downloaded to my phone and for me listening to music happens usually at home and then I don’t use my phone but listen via my Sonos system or the Apple TV. What really eats up the storage are movies in HD quality, the 3 Lord of the Rings movies which I bought from iTunes was a 30 Gb download so at that quality you could probably fill up your phone with one of those movies, many other shorter movies are still 3 or 4 Gb in HD quality. Of course with Netflix you stream so it’s of no concern. Audio books also depend on the quality. If you download Audible books in the enhanced quality format they can also be very large, but then again if you have an Audible subscription there is no reason to download a ton of books to your phone, download one or two at a time or maybe more if you were going to be on vacation somewhere and you know you wanted to have 5 or 6 books along, but otherwise you can just download one or two, delete them when you are done and download another. Any books you buy are always available in your Audible library and you can simply redownload them if you want to listen again. If you have a large library of audio books in MP3 or some other format I would manage them similarly. Just have them on your computer and put a few books at a time on your phone. You made a great point as to why I just do not use my IPhone. I have an IPhone 5s. I just got it about 2 months ago. It is a 16 gig model. I do not have a lot of apps on it. I just do not seem to put a bunch of stuff on it. I have some games, Spotify, Pandora, tune-in, a police scanning app, and some things I can't remember. Anyway, I am concerned that if I try to load the phone with audiobooks, audio movies, and music, I will not have enough space. How much room does all that kind of stuff take? Oh yes, I also have the Bard app, and Netflix, which I love. LOL! I also have a few photos, and I usually use my gmail app to check my mail. My phone is from AT and T. So I would think that I have a SIM card. Would this make some sort of difference? Well, I always appreciate your help. You always give great, helpful advice.
