An idea regarding your last statement: You can even pause all presently playing

Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a microphone button inside the Sonos app
and you could use it to speak through one, several or all Sonos players, sort
of like a public address system? Since at least with the iPhone you can play
music stored on your phone it should be able to do this. I wonder if anybody
has ever suggested it to Sonos.

Sieghard

Subject: Re: Sonos Instructions

Denise,

I would just echo Sieghard’s words here, the iPhone App, is purely a method of
control, hence it being called Sonos Controller. This is true for the Sonos
Mac/PC applications, and, those of Android etc. At my home we have a single
Sonos environment, consisting of 9 Sonos rooms, but, we have three iPad’s, 6
iPHone’s and 1 Android device all configured to control it.

As Sieghard says, the only time you cannot press play then power off your
device is when you are streaming music from that device itself, but, if you
choose to stream music from; radio, a network attached storage NAS unit, PC/Mac
on your network, or, any of the many online streaming platforms, once you’ve
pressed play you’re done.

In terms of instructions, to be honest, its very plug and play, unpack your
Play 5, put the power cord in, link it to your router or a network socket
connected to the internet. Or, if you have bought a Sonos Bridge / Boost, that
needs to be connected to the internet, and, the Play 5 can be anywhere with
just its power cord.

Now power up all of your Sonos units, and, launch the App on your iPhone. The
App will talk you through the rest, literally, Voice Over friendly, and, tells
you exactly what to do, what to press, when etc. The new play 5 has a flush
connect button on the rear of it, this you have to press when prompted.

Once you’re all setup and running, just add whatever music streaming service
you have accounts for, note that you do need the premium accounts with all of
them that I have tried, and, configure any NAS etc, and, happy playing.

I echo again Sieghard’s words; the interface across all of the controllers that
you setup are instantly updated as you press play, skip, change source etc, I
can be in a room with one of my kids, they can be using the unit with me, as
they put music into the queue for the unit to play, I can see instantly what
they have placed in there, even delete it or skip it if it is not to my taste!

Likewise, if they are playing their music to loud upstairs, I can stop it, turn
it down etc.

You can even pause all presently playing units, great to shout that dinner is
ready etc.
