First double tap the edit button in the upper right portion of the screen. Now when you flick through the list of books, you will find a delete button in front of each book. Double tap the button for the book you want to get rid of, then wait a second and VO will announce "delete button." Focus will be on that button which is asking you to confirm the delete. Double tap it and the book will be deleted.
