I love that feature. when I am in public places, no one can see my
phone. Yes, we met many years ago when I ws in Ottawa.

try a 3 finger tripple tap. it might say "screen curtain off" then it
will be fixed. also possible you turned the brightness down to
nothing but screen curatain is more likely.
