I have Openbook simply because I first bought Arkenstone in 1993, and have stuck with it over the years because upgrading it the two times I did were so much cheaper than buying Kurtzweil. . If I were going to get it now, I would get Kurtzweil without a second thought.

But to get this topic back to the topic of this list, unless you are wanting to scan a lot of books, I would get KNFB reader for my I device, along with one of the reading stands, especially since you say you already have ABBY Find reader for an iMac. I would be really hard pressed to want to pay a thousand dollars, or whatever it is, for Openbook or Kurtzweil unless I were in college, or were wanting to use it for some professional purpose.

Subject: Ot: comparing: Openbook vs K1000

Hi there,

In i'm the market of getting an OCR software. I have experience with
both software in the pass, some versions ago. Just wondering, for
those that may have use both or have experience with both software,
especially the openbook 9 and k1000 14, what is the advantes and
disadvantages of each other?

What do you like about openbook and k1000?

I can get the Pearl camera with the openbook however, that is not my
first consideration. I need an OCR software that can scan accurate,
fast, and reliable.

I have ABBY Find reader on my IMac, however, i'm looking for some
window os solution.

Thanks for all the suggestions, comments and thoughtss

Regards
Joanne
