Hi Mary, You probably didn't delete the messages accidently, but by default iOS deletes audio messages after 2 minutes.. You may want to check what is set for the expiry of audio and video messages in Settings > Messages. It's near the bottom and I believe by default audio and video messages expire after 2 minutes, you can double tap on that and the options are 2 minutes or never. When it is set to 2 minutes, the explanation reads as follows:
When you sent or listen to an audio message it will automatically be removed from your conversation history after 2 minutes. As I said, you can change this to "Never" or, whenever you get an audio message and tap on it to play it, there is a "Keep" button and if you tap that the message will be kept. This is not a bug but it is done this way by design, almost works like SnapChat except it is only like this for audio messages so that not a bunch of storage space is taken up by old audio messages.
