Yes, my Hulu does that as well, as it allows for more width for people to
see the video, even though a phone is probably not the ideal screen to watch
on for a sighted person either. The audio, when using Airplay, can end up
better than built-in TV speakers though, but the landscape orientation does
throw me off.

I haven't used Hulu in a while, but the Netflix app goes into landscape
