Hi,

A few years ago when Apple switched over to lightning connectors I took the
opportunity to purchase a really nice dock with base and charging and an even
an app. Of course the app is not accessible but the dock will play on battery
while keeping the phone charged for around seven hours. The interesting thing
is that I got this really nice dock for about 66% off because it had a 30 pin
connector. Then I got this little several inch long cable. I mean this cable is
short. I got this little cable from Apple that has a 30 pin on one end and a
lightning on the other so my phone plugs right into it. I have used it with
both a 5S and my 6S+ now. It still sounds great.

It is not audiophile quality but it does what it is supposed to do. It is a
Phillips Phidelio and probably not spelling that totally correct. I got it from
amazon.

Hope that helps.

Merv

Hi Ed,

Well, now don’t get dirty on the list and tell SIRI to watch her language
*smile*.

Having said that, no, I don’t think you will be able to put your phone on a
“cock”, oops, I meant “dock” with most cases. There are so-called dock extender
cables which in the case of a Lightning dock, would have a female end on one
side and a male Lightning connector on the other. You would plug the female end
over the Lightning dock connector which is male and then plug the other end
into your phone.

Especially the Otterbox Defender probably wouldn’t fit on a dock as it is big
and bulky and has that rubber plug to close off the port to access the
Lightning port.

Regards,

Sieghard

Subject: Question on lightning dock

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering how well the Lightning dock works and can you use most
cases with it. I have a 6s+ and was wondering if most cases will work in the
cock. Will the Otterbox case work is one case I am interested in to see if it
will work. Any opinion and suggestions about the apple lightning dock or other
docks would be appreciated.

Ed
