Craig, I noticed this as well. But, I'm only reading my first iBook so I didn't think much of it. I usually read BookShare books on my iPhone, and I've read a few GooglePlay books -- but I had to manually change the page on those.
However, I don't know if there's a setting to change, nor do I know if the words are actually repeated visually I'd have to get out a mangnifier to see print that small! But I usually have been ignoring it since it's not taking away from the book, just a little annoying.
