Hi Wayne, I assume you know this, but just thought I mention it since you are using the Remote app on your phone. The latest update of TVOS brought back Bluetooth keyboard support and I think using a Bluetooth keyboard paired directly with the Apple TV is by far the best experience for any sort of advanced usage. For just basic stuff I personally prefer the remote that comes with the Apple TV since I usually don't feel like having to unlock my iPhone, get into the remote app and all that. Sorry, I don't know about screensavers with features you mention, we usually put the Apple TV to sleep which automatically turns off the TV when we are not actually using it since LCD TV's use a lot of power.
