This is what I do. Open the photo on your iPhone. At the lower left tap the share button. In the next screen, on the lower part of the screen you will find the usual choices like air drop, message, etc. One of the choices is mail. Double tap it and a new message will open into which you can enter the info. When you are done filling in the fields, double tap send.
You may see a prompt saying you need to resize the file if it's very large. You don't have to, but the smaller the file the faster it will be sent. I hope this helps.
