Hi Tom, What you are doing is simply applying a custom label to the file name and that of course is only valid with Voiceover. You can’t rename picture files unless of course you save them to your PC and do it there with the help of a sighted person.

While this method is certainly useful for helping me keep track of which photo is which, I should point out that it doesn't actually rename the file itself, as I discovered when I e-mailed a picture to a buddy of mine. The file that he received as an attachment was called "img084.jpg" or something like that. It would be really great if there was a way to rename the file rather than update VoiceOver's graphics dictionary, if there is such a beast.
