Hi,
If and when you restored the phone, restoring from a backup,
rather than setting up as new, should still work, as the backups
shouldn't be corrupted, and the messages should then be retained.

Hi group,
I had my Apple appointment today, and I thought I'd give an
update on my iPhone. My battery is healthy, but I have corrupted
software. The solution is to erase my phone and start over from
scratch. Talk about a big bummer! One wonders what was the
point of all those backups. :)
I'm currently Googling ways to save text and iMessages. I've
found 2 possible Mac apps. Onto switching over to Macvisionaries
and getting their feedback.
