Honestly, I want the app, and I could take good use of it. Ifnothing else, get fun out of it. But even while on price, I justget upset, when I think about spending £50 for an app, when thatcould be the half of a refurbished iPad's price. I just wish itwas cheaper. Is there a demo of the app, to try somewhere?

I'm afraid I dan't disagree with you more. If a hundreddollars for an app is too rich for your blood, that is fine. Notall people living on a fixed income can afford it. I have beentotally blind for about 40 years and I get very good results withthe KNFB app. I do understand that some blind people have moretrouble seeing their position in space but it can be worked on.Sometimes simple tricks can help. Bashing the software is notthe solution as, in my opinion, it really is the best app forfreehand OCR out there. Keep asking questions and, at somepoint, it will click and you will be the first one to say: "Howcan I have had so much trouble". You may not believe this but,I know some people who take the picture first as they are usuallyaligned properly on their own and only use the field of viewreport as a second choice if it didn't work well enough thefirst time. I am practicing this and have to say I am doing verywell with it.

Gordon, I have to disagree with you. For several years now, Ihave had very good results freehand first with Prizmo and nowwith KNFBReader and I'm totally blind. I think what makes thedifference is whether we have good spacial awareness or not. Iwas able to see perfectly as a young child, and although I'veseen nothing at all for around 55 years, my visual memory isgood. This helps me understand how to use apps with the camera.
