Hi Marie, If you assign a ringtone in Settings > Sounds it applies universally to all incoming phone calls except those where you have assigned a custom ringtone for a particular person. You do this in Contacts, just find the person you want to assign a custom ringtone to, double tap on that person, then tap on "Edit" at the top right of the screen and find the "Ringtone" field. Double tap on it and assign any ringtone you want from what is available and then tap on "Done".
