Hi Sandy,

Sorry, accidently sent this directly to you. But others may have information
to contribute and maybe some of my description help others who seem to have
a hard time with iTunes so I am reposting this to the list.

Once again, I can only describe what is there for me and what "should" be
there. As far as your iTunes version, in Jaws "Jaws Key+V" as in "Version"
will return the version of any application you are in, maybe other Window
Eyes users could chime in and say if there is an equivalent feature. But you
can always go to "Help" and "Check for Updates" in iTunes and find out in
that way whether you have the latest version or not. When I do this on my
computer it comes back and says "This version, 10.6.3, is the latest
version" and then there is an "OK" button. The interesting thing is that
with Jaws when a message like this pops up you cannot review it with the
Jaws cursor right away, but when I Alt+tab to switch to another open program
and then
Alt+Tab again to go back to iTunes whatever message then has the correct
focus and I can read it with the Jaws cursor.

As for the "Info" tab, once again all I can say is that if I am on a song or
other file that appears in my music library and I do a "Control+I for "Get
Info", I am usually placed on the "Summary" tab the first time. I get the
following tabs:

Summary, Info, Video, Sorting, Options, Lyrics, Artwork

The Summary tab displays the artist, album and title, bitrate, file size,
file location etc.

The Info Tab has a bunch of edit fields where you can edit or add ID3 tag
information (artist, album, title, track number, disc number etc.

The Sorting Tab allows you to enter, for example, a different "sort" title
from what the song title is, same for artist, album etc.

The Options Tab gives you options for volume adjustment, choosing an
equalizer preset like "Rock" or "Classic etc., select the Media Kind like
Music, Audio Book, Podcast etc. and so on.

The Lyrics tab is an edit field where you could type in or paste in the
song's lyrics.

The Artwork Tab I assume displays the Album's artwork if iTunes was able to
retrieve it from the internet and there is also an "Add" button which I
assume allows you to browse to an image file on your computer which you can
use as the artwork. Not something I assume most of us are too concerned
about.

As far as the File Sharing stuff is concerned, this you find under your
device, i.e. you have to connect your iPhone, then go to, in your example,
"Sandy's iPhone". Now tab until you get to "Apps" and check it, now tab on
or use F6 and eventually you will find your "File Sharing" section which
lists the apps which can use File Sharing. I don't use Read to Go, but
normally you would find the app you want in the list and then you will have
an "Add" button. It opens a standard Windows "Open" dialogue box, browse to
the file you want to add and click OK. Then click on "Apply" or go to "File"
and "Sync" and the file should sync to your phone and become available in
the app.

OK, I know this is a fairly generic "how-to", but maybe it will help you to
get a bit further with the learning process, if I can help and you feel it's
not something for the entire list don't hesitate to email me directly.

Regards,

Sieghard

Richard, Len Chris and Sieghard,

Since all of you were kind enough to write back I thought I'd send the same
message to all of you, including you, Siegard, even though you are not a
Window-Eyes user.

. I want to begin using iTunes for more than just syncing my phone. I want
to read a Daisy file on my phone and listen to some mp3 files that I
currently have on my PC. and I don't know how to begin. For instance, in
response to my earlier questions, Richard wrote,

"I believe they have to be a zip file and then you can use iTunes File
sharing to send that file to Read2Go."

I Can't find file sharing in iTunes.

Then, Sieghard wrote, "Simply add them to iTunes, they will most likely end
up in the Music Library. Here you can find them and either go to "Get Info"
for each file or highlight them all and do the Control I (the PC/Windows
shortcut for Get Info) on all of them. Then go to the "Options" tab and
tab 3 times until you get to "Media Kind". This will be on Music, but you
can change it to Podcast, iTunes U, Audio Book or Voice Memo and once you
change it and tab to OK your files will be moved out of the Music Library
and into whichever Library you chose, e.g. if you selected Audio Book they
will now show up under "Books". On the "Info" tab in Get Info you can also
enter any ID3 tag information, e.g. Album Name, Title, Artist, Track Number
etc."

I can't find an info tab.

Something is amiss here. Do I have the wrong set file? Or the wrong version
of iTunes? I intended to let you know what version of iTunes I am using; so
I went into Help and pressed enter on About. Window-Eyes said, "Windows
Client Area." I can't get it to read anything else even when I tab or when I
try to read with the Mouse pointer. My associated set file is iTunes.set.

Let's start with the basic questions. What's wrong here? I am not a half
bad computer user. Thanks to all of you.

Sandy
