Thanks for this tip. It's one I learned but had forgotten about. I use some

To quickly refresh the Twitter feed, as well as other apps that observe this
control, with the app in focus, simply place focus on the status line of
your iOS device, then, single-finger, double-tap the status line. This will
immediately move app focus to the first item in the feed as well as
refreshing the feed, itself.
