Can't answer your first question because I haven't purchased the app yet, I'm still using the free version which doesn't offer push notifications. But as far as your second question, while in the app, double tap in the status bar area and it will take you to the top of your twitter feed and even refresh content for you. The status bar area would be where your time and signal stuff is. It's pretty cool how this works. Android didn't really have anything like this where you could use it universally in different apps to take you to the top and even refresh.
