The screen curtain feature is for privacy concerns only. It does not effect 
screen brightness. I don't know why your brightness keeps going up, since you 
said you have auto brightness turned off, and you put the brightness slider to 
0, but others seem to think that the brightness resets to around 40 percent 
when you restart your iPhone. I'll have to do some testing for this issue. 
chnyhow, all the screen curtain does is blacken the screen. If you have your 
brightness past 0, and your screen curtain on' sighted people will be able to 
see the brightness of your screen' but not anything in particular on your 
screen. I hope this makes sense.
