Hi Terri,

Yes, the iPad Mini is Apple's newest iPad Mini, it was first available for
purchase on September 9, 2015. However, while it came preinstalled with iOS 9
just like the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus which were also released last September,
the iPad Mini only has an A8 processor and not the A9 of the iPhone 6S and 6S
Plus. That is Apple's second generation 64 Bit processor and I don't think for
your purposes this will make a noticeable difference.
Compared to buying an iPod fifth Gen I think you made a good decision as the
iPad Mini will probably serve you better as a secondary device to use at home.
The nice thing is that Apple made the iPad Mini 4 lighter and thinner than the
previous generations, it is only 6.1mm thick which I believe is the same
thickness as an iPod Touch.
The iPad Mini 4 also has an upgraded 8 Megapixel rear and 1.2 Megapixel front
camera for selfis and video calls.
As Ed pointed out, if you want it to behave more like your phone, you can turn
off split view which splits the screen into two areas for some apps like Mail.
I think, however, that if you use the iPad Mini in portrait mode it is like the
iPhone anyways.
As for buttons it basically has just what your iPhone has: a home button with
Touch Id, volume up and down buttons, the power/sleep button and a little flip
switch like the one on the iPhone except on the iPad it isn't used for muting
your iPad, but it can be set up to lock in your orientation in either portrait
or landscape mode.
All in all iOS 9 on an iPad will be very much like iOS 9 on your iPhone, but as
Ray pointed out, due to the larger screen your gestures may have to be a big
bigger although this is much more the case with a full-size 9.7 inch iPad and I
don't even want to guess how it would be on the large iPad Pro.
I would just search Amazon for "iPad Mini keyboard cases" and see what comes up.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Questions regarding the iPad mini

Hello everybody,

Today I ordered an iPad mini from AT&T. I was able to get a promotion on it,
and it was a great deal for me. I'm very excited about this!
However, I have never had an iPad of any sort. How do they work? Are they
somehow different from an iPod?
What sorts of things can you do with them, that you cannot do with the iPod?

I got done I pad mini for. The lady said that this was the latest generation. I
hope he is correct about that. I was able to get the 64 gig model, and this
really made me happy. Plus, I got it in silver. Not like that really mattered.
But I wanted to be a little different. They had gold. But I thought that was a
bit much! Will I be able to turn on voice over by myself?
If so, how would I go about doing this?
Wooden buttons are on the iPad mini?
Also, is there a case I can get for the iPad mini, that comes with a
combination keyboard?
Or is this product too small for that?

Any help, or suggestions, would be very much appreciated.

Thank you so much!

Terri
