The best way to avoid the speaker pairing with your device is to turn off bluetooth on your device. I have both the Jambox Mini and the Big Jambox and this is the only way to connect the speaker through a wire. You can always remove the Jambox as a pairable device by going into your bluetooth settings, finding the speaker, swiping right once to the info button of the speaker and then selecting "forget this device".

However, when I have used it with the Mac, I found that the signal is not always consistent, and the speech goes back and forth between the internal speaker of my Macbook air and the mini jambox.
