The on board maps are from navteq, you can also choose to use apple
maps for addresses. For places, you can choose to use google or
foursquare which are probably the two best sources of this infoormation.

Does anyone know what maps Nearby Explorer uses and how often they're
updated? I know it uses Open Street and Google Places when necessary,
but I'm curious about the update of the onboard maps. The app is
tempting if only because it consolidates the functions of multiple apps
into one, and there is no recurring subscription charge.
