The 6S and 6S Plus are a pretty significant upgrade from the 5S both in speed and of course also in screen size. The 5S has a 4 inch screen, the 6S has a 4.7 inch screen and the 6S Plus has a 5.5 inch screen and also a significantly larger battery. Everybody needs a phone but not everybody needs a tablet and for my purposes an iPhone does it all . If of course you are happy with your 5S as a phone and simply want to add an iPad as an additional device Then that is a perfectly OK thing to do. But if you simply want a newer, faster device and don't have a specific need for a tablet, then buying a new phone will be a better choice in my opinion.
