Hi Larry,
to start playing, I just use to click on one of the audio files in the
folder and that would start playback. I then used to click the Shuffle
button near the bottom of the screen in the mini-player to shuffle play
all the songs. I am not sure if you can select specific songs to play, I
haven't used the app since Apple Music launched.
I can reinstall it over the weekend when I have some free time and let
you know what I find.

I think the only way to play everything in a folder at once is to use apps like
Cloud Player. There are several other similar apps, but cloud player is the one
I have used in the past. This will let you play an entire folder, you can
shuffle the play order etc. It connects to several cloud sites, such as drop
box, one drive Google drive etc.
As far as I am aware, doing what you are wanting, will require an app like
Cloud Player or something similar.
