the vast coverage claims are for band 12 phones. Only the iPhone 6s and i Pone 6s plus have these frequencies so older iPhones do not benefit much from the so-called coverage expansion.
If people are not data hogs and want affordable cell phone service, consider a T-Mobile prepaid offering. I pay $16 for T-Mobile service that includes extremely high Chicago taxes.
