Hi Alan, I think you basically answered your own question. Just having a card image showing the entire credit card number and expiry date could indeed by a pretty big security problem especially if somebody used such an app who doesn’t have a passcode set for the iPhone. Also, credit card readers don’t work off a barcode orr QR code but off information which is read from the magnetic strip embedded in the card or, in the case of all credit cards here in Canada and more and more in the US the information is actually on a chip. It’s interesting that so many retailers in the States still don’t accept Apple Pay even though it has been available in the States first. Here in Canada it only became available earlier this year, but since so many retailers here already had contactless terminals which allow you to simply tap your credit card, Apple Pay wwas basically almost instantly available everywhere except in small stores who don’t yet have contactless terminals. Here you still have to stick your card into the terminal and enter a PIN.

Bill, Unless I'm missing something, the Wallet app lets you add credit cards to use with Apple Pay but if the store doesn't take Apple Pay, you can't use the wallet to provide the credit card info electronically. And if you open that credit card from within the wallet, you only see the last four digits of the number and nothing else.
