Thanks for confirming. Since I wrote earlier, I’ve had some sighted assistance
with this app.

There are the former Home, Spot, and Manual Clean options, but VoiceOver
doesn’t read them. Also, when one clicks on Eco or Turbo, the button
double-tapped appears selected visually, but this is not announced by
VoiceOver. And, if one double-taps on Spot Clean, the usual options appear
visually, such as Small or Large Spot Clean, and single-pass or double-pass,
but again these are not read by VoiceOver.

I’ve written the Neato Support Team to pass the info on to what they call Tier
3, which I understand from past contact is the Development Team for both
Hardware and Software. I encourage other Neato app users to do so, too.

I did find what might be a very good sign of improved blind accessibility,
beyond the addition in the recent app update of a battery level announcement.

If one double taps on the Add button, and then the button for the Connected
model, there is a screen which describes how to activate the botvac wifi, by
pressing the Start button while pushing in the bumper from the right for 10
seconds. This is said to activate the wifi on the device for 1 hour.
Thereafter, there appears to be a step-by-step walk through of setting up the
device.

This wifi activation step, now apparently accessible via the combined press and
10 second hold of the Start button with the right bumper press, was the only
limiting issue in independently setting up the device as a blind person. Note
that I haven’t tried doing this, as my device is connected. So it may not work,
but would be worth a try if someone has a new botvac to setup.

Subject: RE: Neato botvac recent app update questions

There are loads of options not found in the app anymore.
That is just one. The second is telling the vac to return to base to charge is
another.
A few others i can't think off hand.

Subject: Neato botvac recent app update questions

Hi,

I’ve recently updated the Neato botvac app.

There are some improvements, such as a battery level announcement. But, I’m
running into some problems that I hope someone can help with.

In the recent upgrade, I can’t seem to find how to select a Spot clean setting,
including whether it should be Eco or Turbo and whether Small or Large Spot.

Can someone explain how to do this?

Also, I found something that suggests setting the device up as a blind person
may be possible, now, but I haven’t had time to check it for sure. I’ll try
checking this out further and get back if successful.

Thanks in advance, Keith
