I had the same exact problem when trying to update my 6 Plus. The only way I was able to get past all of this was to have my wife unlock my phone, and then again after it rebooted. Once I got to the home screen, I turned VO off, and then back on again. This time Alex came back up, and everything seems to be working like it should.
