You want to go into settings, general, accessibility, VoiceOver, Typing feedback. There are 'two sections, Software keyboards and hardware. My guess is the Software keyboard is set to none. You want, at least characters selected. The hardware keyboard is for external keyboards, bluetooth, etc. HTH, Richard
